REVIEW: My Heart for Yours by Jolene Perry & Steph Campbell

Absolutely fell in love with this story. It made my heart ache for both Tobin and Delia. They were such likable, relatable characters and the power of their love, was heart-warming. I took an emotional journey with these two characters and it's honestly on my list for best of 2012. This was a terrific collaboration. I couldn't possibly have given it anything less than the 5 stars it rightfully deserved.
The emotions between our hero and heroine were gripping. My chest was in constant hard-to-breathe mode whenever Tobin and Delia were together. The circumstances of their reunion weren't stellar but they both needed that reunion to get closure. To deal with the issues they had left gaping when she moved away.

“When she left, it was like someone had ripped my heart out, crumbled it up like a flimsy piece of loose leaf paper and crammed it back into my chest. It somehow managed to work, but it would never, ever feel the same.”
― Steph Campbell, My Heart for Yours

I loved reading the story from both their POVs. I feel like you get closer to the characters when you can read what they're feeling. You connect more with the character and the story, the emotions are that much stronger. Both authors did a great job for each of our protagonist's side of the story.

Their little game was utterly endearing . . . sigh.

“My heart for yours," he offers.
― Jolene B. Perry, My Heart for Yours

All in all, it was a sweetly intense story that made me believe in first love, true love. These two were obviously meant for each other. So many obstacles tried to keep them apart but through that time, Tobin never stopped loving Delia. He never looked at another girl and the sweetest thing, kept her grandmother's resting place clean and visiting her all through the year Delia was gone, even though he didn't have to.
A truly touching and emotional story of a lasting love. It makes you believe in love. True love doesn't die. These two authors together as I said before were pure magic together because this story stuck with me for the days following my completion and I still  am thinking about it. It's definitely a novel that should be on your MUST-READ list!

REVIEW: Avoiding Commitment (Avoiding #1) by K.A. Linde

Rating : 4.5/5 stars

Holy Toledo! I Abso-fucking-lutely loved this novel. It was a roller-coaster ride of EPIC proportions and I was more than eager to be along for the ride. This is hands down probably the most emotionally- engaging novel I've read this year! There was just so much emotions; pain, loss, anger, deceit, disappointment, gosh I could go on and on.
The story surrounds Jack Howard and Alexa 'Lexi' Walsh and their completely dysfunctional or rather unconventional relationship or lack thereof.
They met in college and started 'dating.' I use the term dating loosely because not long after Jack completely blindsides a besotted Lexi by telling her he has a girlfriend. He's had this girlfriend since high-school.
So I must back up a bit and tell you how the novel started, Jack has called Lexi whom he hasn't spoken with for a year and asks her to come to Atlanta and help him convince his current girlfriend that he's capable of committing to her.
What's a girl to do. She goes of course and discovers that Bekah is not even close to the type of girl that she ever envisions Jack to be with . . .
The story alternates back and forth from present to past chronically Jack and Lexi's 'relationship' throughout the years helping you to understand how they got to the place they now are in their lives. As much as I abhor cheating in real-life and in novels, sometimes it's a deal-breaker for me, I couldn't dislike a thing about this story because it was weaved so carefully, so perfectly, engaging the reader from start to finish. You were never bored and you felt like it had roped you in so tight that your emotions became involved as well. I just couldn't stop reading!

Lexi: To some she may have seemed weak, always giving into Jack's every whim, but I completely understood her. Her character enveloped me from the start and I felt every emotion, every hurt and disappointment right along with her. She just loved him so much, such an all-consuming possessive love. She couldn't resist a thing about him and she melted for him every time because she loved him so much and felt in her heart and soul, to her bones, that they would somehow be together, somehow! I sympathized with her wholly because I knew she was so far gone over him that she'd never see reason when it came to him. She deserved someone, a love, so much better than that and she was blind to it because he eclipsed every rational thought when he was around. She really told him in the end and I was so proud. He needed to hear that and she needed to say it!

Jack: I didn't hate him, somehow, I couldn't! Don't know why, I just couldn't. Throughout I kept hoping he'd man up to the feelings he kept expressing to Lexi and do right by her but he left me seething and disappointed at the same time, every time. The guy was  simply pathological, he didn't seem to see anything wrong in cheating on his girlfriends with Lexi. After the first time, he'd promised he'd never lie to her again but he was never completely honest with her. What kind of guy asks the girl he supposedly has been in love with for five years, to reassure his current girlfriend about his commitment to their relationship? A man who really doesn't know what he wants, I think. A man who really isn't capable of an honest relationship.

Jack & Lexi: When they were together, it seemed like every thing was as it should be. They were on fire when they were together. There was so much passion, so much emotions, so much need and want and lusty looks. Lexi just could never resist the temptation that Jack presented. He was always like some forbidden fruit that she shouldn't eat but couldn't help it because it looked too good! From his chiseled good-looks to his shaggy brown locks and oh-so baby blues!

“I did those things because of my lack of control. When you touch me Jack, I completely succumb to you. I give into your every whim.”
― K.A. Linde, Avoiding Commitment

He kept her trapped in their non-relationship when he should've just let her go. All they did was hurt each other and the trust between them was severely lacking, I mean of course it would be. Bekah though I didn't like her at all was right in some of  the things she said to Lexi at the end. If Jack really loved her, the way she loved him, he would have made a way for them to be together. Really be together. She was always the 'other woman.'
Their relationship was too dysfunctional, the back and forth, the lying and deceit, the pain and heart-break could have been avoided if Jack had just done right by my girl Lexi. Throughout I'd kept hoping that Lexi and Jack would end up together but as the story came closer and closer to it's final chapter, I didn't want them together anymore. It didn't feel right.

Ramsey and Bekah: I totally adored Ramsey and loathed Bekah completely. Ramsey is just too delish! I'm so glad he and Lexi hit it off because I shipped 'Rexi'! ( not sure if it's a cute enough name but I just love them together and can't wait read more of the two in "Avoiding Responsibility.") Bekah on the other hand, had an air of falsity from the start and I just never trusted her, she was just too perfect, too cheery. Something had to be up.

I'll just say that this terrific author takes you on a journey through this story that you won't soon forget. I know I won't!  While I read this novel, I felt like I wouldn't have the words to describe how good this novel was and how it got to me, and it really did. It was just a flat-out winner! A MUST READ!

Happy Reading!

REVIEW: The Right to Remain Mine by Linda Kage

Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
Absolutely loved it! A great novel, well-written. Solid plot and most importantly; very likable characters. A great addition to my keeper-shelf, a novel I'd definitely recommend. I'm so glad I added this one to my Summer Challenge List!
First off, the hero is a sinfully sexy Deputy, divorcee. He's arrogant, he's rude but he's downright sexy and Willow DeVane knows it. Raith Malloy can't can't help but want this gorgeous woman even though she's a lawyer, comes from a family of lawyers. She's just too much for him to resist.
He tries but fails miserably in trying not to want the sexy lawyer and she just can't resist the hunky cop even though they dislike each other intensely and get on each other's last nerve, the two can't resist the force of the sexual tension and chemistry that simmer in the air whenever they're near one another.
After Willow is attacked by a client, Raith volunteers to give her self-defense guidance so that she can defend herself in a similar situation should it arise. It's all well and good until they can't fight their attraction anymore and give into their passion, starting a steamy affair and burning up the sheets.
The two are guarded, each trying to protect themselves from potential heartbreak by not making their tryst seem important or emotional. But they can't help it, the more time they spend around each other the less they can hide what they know are brewing between them.

"I'm going to marry that boy someday," she declared.
-Right to Remain Mine, Linda Kage

Everything changes when after one passion-filled night changes everything and allows them to be more open and share with each other, their insecurities and eventually concede their love. But Raith not only has to worry about his future with his beautiful attorney but a crazed stalker that wants to kill her . . .
Great novel, Raith is the definition of my type of hero, who could resist a man in uniform? and Willow was a truly every likable heroine. A next one off the Summer Challenge list!

REVIEW: Tale of Three Hearts Series by Sienna Mynx

Aiden's Game by Sienna Mynx

This is the first if two novels involving three pivotal characters, Daisy Johnson, Peter 'Pete' Doyle and Aiden Keane. I'll just start by saying that I really wanted to give this book more than the 3.5/5 stars that I did give it but really two out of the three characters just made it very hard for me to change my mind.
So let's start from the top, Daisy and Pete are a couple, an engaged couple making a stop in Vegas before they get married. It's here where everything goes wrong for this very sweet couple. I really liked Daisy and Pete together and I felt like it truly helped the story by hearing both their POVs. Pete really loved Daisy and it seemed like she genuinely felt the same for him . . . that is until they meet Aiden Keane.
Until they play a game that changes everything . . .
I'll just say that I thought Aiden was a sick son-of -a bitch! Seriously, who tries to ruin the lives of a happy couple just because they're bored and one half of that couple is very attractive to you? He really had no scruples. No heart really!
So what was his sordid game, you ask? Well, he saw a poor couple trying to make it and he took advantage. See the bride-to- be had stars in her eyes! Too much stars if you ask me because her morals just went right out the window at the opportunity to get one million dollars! Daisy felt shallow and materialistic to me in everything she would say that I really had no respect for her and just felt pity for Pete who only wanted to make her happy.
Poor Pete! That's all I could think. He signed a contract to give Aiden his woman for 24hrs. in exchange for the one mil. which was really what Daisy wanted. And Pete just wants her to be happy. How could she ever think it okay for  her man, her fiancee, to give her to another man who wanted to sleep with her. The way Pete loved this girl, she was just not deserving of him.
With Aiden, gosh I swore the scheming would never end! He just didn't seem to give a damn about the young couple's lives her was destroying with his sick game! And Pete's pride was just squashed every time he was around.
As you can probably guess, Aiden's game ruined Daisy and Pete's relationship and Aiden got exactly what he wanted or did he? He wanted Daisy but she skipped out on him.
The novel ends with an epilogue that hints of the next novel.
Though I didn't give it more stars, this novel was an intriguing one. It kept me reading even though I really disliked Daisy and Aiden throughout. Ms. Mynx really can tell a story! It was filled with so much drama and twists that I just had to read the sequel regardless . . .

Daisy's Choice by Sienna Mynx

I rate Ms Mynx's sequel to a very drama filled series 4/5 stars. It was well-written and enough drama to have you squirming, wanting to pull your hair out over character decisions. There was just so much going on with Pete and Aiden and Daisy. So much drama and so many people involved.
There was a little less of the love-triangle in this one than the first because when this novel starts up, Pete is in a steady relationship with Nina whom he went to high-school with when Daisy suddenly reappears after her father takes ill and subsequently passes on. There is the added drama that Daisy has a daughter and doesn't know who her child's father is; Pete or Aiden. Aiden is relentless in his deep obsession with Daisy and even though Pete still harbored unresolved feelings for Daisy, he was content enough with Nina that his main concern was finding out if Daisy's child was his.
One thing that got to me was how quickly Aiden's attraction in "Aiden's Game" turned into a full-blow crazy, stakerific obsession with her that he spent not a few months but five years searching for her. His feelings for someone he'd only spent one night with previously felt a little unbelievable. To be that obsessed over someone you barely knew made his character seem a bit unstable.
He was still playing games and up to his old tricks, scheming and making things happen to suit his purposes. I came to realize that he and Daisy definitely deserved each other in this novel. No matter how crazy and dysfunctional and angsty they seemed together, they deserved each other totally. When you read it you'll see what I mean. She and Pete wouldn't have worked as a couple. They were just too different.
The story ended in a place where everyone ends up happy but hinted at a third novel as Aiden has information- important information- that could change everything for everyone.
Great story! I always enjoy this author's work as it keeps you reading. You can put it down. It's like watching your favorite soap opera on a loop!

Happy Reading Everyone!
